Hollycraft, a one-of-a-kind brand showcasing unique and dazzling designs.
The Hollywood Jewelry Manufacturing Company, the business behind Hollycraft jewelry, was founded in New York City in 1936 by Joseph Chorbajian. As the company expanded, Joseph was joined by Archie Chorbajian and Jack Hazard as partners. By the 1940s, the firm began labeling its jewelry with foiled string tags that featured “Hollycraft” on the front and “Created by Hollywood Mfg. Co. New York” on the reverse side.
Hollycraft’s most celebrated pieces are characterized by their elaborate and inventive designs, showcasing a stunning array of pastel-colored rhinestones. These vibrant stones, often set in complex patterns, create a harmonious blend of soft hues that give their jewelry a uniquely enchanting appeal. The brand’s signature style evokes a sense of whimsy and romance, reminiscent of fairytale aesthetics, while also reflecting strong baroque influences through ornate detailing and intricate craftsmanship. This combination of fantasy and opulence results in pieces that feel both delicate and regal, making Hollycraft jewelry highly distinctive and sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Hollywood Jewelry Mfg. Co., known for producing numerous pieces under their Hollycraft brand, also created jewelry for other companies, including Pakula, Kramer, and Weiss. Although the business was sold in the late 1970s, Joseph Chorbajian continued working as a jewelry designer until 1980. He passed away in 1991 at the age of 91.
