Giuliano Fratti
Giuliano Fratti’s atelier was located at 29 Via Montenapoleone, in the “Fashion Palace”: that’s what he called it, because in the same building were Rina Modelli and the milliner Projetti. Twice a year, representatives and owners of tailoring shops from all over Italy would come to Fratti to purchase belts, buckles, buttons, trimmings, and jewelry. Active since the 1940s, he had learned to use different materials, combining the humble with the luxurious and creating original solutions. In 1947, the renowned illustrator and fashion designer Federico Pallavicini designed a line of jewelry for him to be made from trimmings, with feathers and raffia. The painter Filippo De Pisis, a great figure of 20th-century Italian art, sketched an entire collection of accessories for him in just one night.
Giuliano Fratti’s atelier was a landmark in the fashion world, known for the originality and quality of his creations, which integrated art and craftsmanship in innovative ways.
